Firies kept busy with two vehicle fires already this weekend

EMERGENCY services have had a busy start to the weekend.

Firefighters have responded to an off-shore "ski boat" fire at about 9.30am today, on Kinchant Dam.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said crews, who attended the scene, were unable to access the boat after drifting to the centre of the dam.

It has since sunk, Kinchant Waters Leisure Resort employee Russel Biggs said.

Earlier this morning, firefighters also responded to a second vehicle fire at Blue Mountain.

The QFES spokesman said crews were called to an abandoned car fire on the Peak Downs Highway at about 3am.

The car, located about 40 minutes past the Eton range, was in long grass about five metres off the main road.

There have been no reports of injury.
