House of Golf robbed and trashed

THE popular Hervey Bay House of Golf driving range was robbed and trashed on Thursday night.

Thieves kicked the door in of the side toilets, before smashing the plasterboard wall and getting into the rear office.

A desk was broken, TV smashed and papers thrown around the room.

House of Golf professional Stephen Taylor estimated the thieves took about $3000 cash and said it didn't appear anything else was stolen.

He was disappointed in the destruction and told the Chronicle it was a very low act.

"It's amazing how dumb they are," he said.

"It looks like they've kicked in the plasterboard and come through the back office wall.

"I'm not sure why they did this."

Police were on the scene investigating yesterday.

Mr Taylor said the driving range had not been broken into for 13 years and he would look at upgrading security.

"It's disappointing," he said.
