Not being able to find wedding outfit inspires fashion store

IT WAS her sister's wedding that inspired Katrina Sandlant to open her own fashion boutique in the Maryborough central business district.

"I went shopping for my sister's wedding and couldn't find anything and then I thought, geez Maryborough is really lacking in clothing stores.

"So I kind of got the idea from there," she said.

Since she opened Ellena's on Bazaar six weeks ago, business has been growing.

Ms Sandlant, who was made redundant a year ago, is realistic about the challenges of starting a new business in a tough economy.

"I suppose with any new business at the moment, you've got to have some apprehension but sometimes you've got to take risks to get the reward," she said.

She said there is a definite need for more fashion stores in Maryborough.

The shop, on the corner of Ellena and Bazaar Sts, sells a wide range of sizes and styles.
