New moon hits the Fraser Coast

JUST as Twilight fever hit the Fraser Coast almost 12 months ago, now the second release in the series, New Moon, is enjoying a similar reception.

The love story about a human girl named Bella who falls in love with Edward, a vampire, proved so popular that it ran for a number of weeks at Hervey Bay’s BigScreen Cinema when it was released last December and the sequel, New Moon, is looking like it will be every bit as successful.

Hervey Bay BigScreen Cinemas has sold out two cinemas for the midnight screening of New Moon tomorrow.

The cinema will show Twilight before the screening of New Moon.

Hervey Bay’s Maddison Bayly went to see Twilight seven times last year – her sister, Chloe, saw the movie 10 times.

The sisters are planning to attend the midnight screening.

Maddison is looking forward to the final scenes of the film, which see Bella and Edward together in Italy and introduce the Volturi, an ancient clan of vampires.

When the cinema released the tickets, people were lined up to buy them, staff member Ryan Berghofer said, and not all of them were teenagers.

First the books and now the movies have captured the imaginations of people around the world and Ryan said the Fraser Coast was no different, with plenty of “Twihards” right here.

“It’s been really hectic,” he said of ticket sales for the screenings.

The cinema encourages those attending the midnight screening to come along dressed as their favourite Twilight character.
