Kid's area is focus of builders
A STUNNING children's play area will be the focus of builders at the new Maryborough Aquatic Centre, with construction on the area starting this week.
The $5.3million pool renovation, which is expected to be completed in September, will expand of the previous aquatic centre structure by creating more swimming and leisure areas.
The new and improved play area will include a large feature wall, and kids cave said Win Construction Queensland site foreman Chris Jamieson.
"At the moment we are working on the back supporting wall for the area," Mr Jamieson said.
"It's going to hold up a lot of the water features, and also hide a lot of the pumps and electrical components.
"We have already started on the footing for the area as well, so we will be constructing all of the other aspects soon."
Construction on the new aquatic centre has been delayed by wet weather but some aspects of the renovation remains on schedule.
"We have had a few issues with the weather, but thankfully we have been able to work on other areas of construction during that time," Mr Jamieson said.
While construction of the kid's area would be the focus over the next few weeks, another important task was also expected to begin said Mr Jamieson.
"The roof bracing is currently being installed," he said.
"After that point we will be able to roof the main building and being work on the interior."
Construction and testing of the new Maryborough Aquatic Centre is expected to be completed before the September school holidays.
