ABC Wide Bay will broadcast from Bundaberg's NRL trial match in February.

The announcement was made this morning at the end of Scott Lamond's interview with Mike Ireland.

Only 900 tickets are left for the Brisbane Broncos-North Queensland Cowboys match, all of which are in the standing-only area.

APN exclusively revealed Bundaberg's Salter Oval would host the trial, and at the official announcement on October 22 Bundaberg Junior Rugby League president Jack Dempsey said organisers would get more than 13,000 people through the gates.

That total has since been revised to just 8000, with fans expected to travel from the rest of the state to see Queensland's premier rugby league teams lock horns for the first time since the 2015 NRL Grand Final.

The Cowboys won that unforgettable match 17-16 courtesy of Johnathan Thurston's extra time field goal.

Eight Hervey Bay Seagulls were named in a Bundaberg Rugby League representative team to face CQ Capras in a curtain raiser.
