ACDC retirement rumours shot down in flames

AUSSIE rock band AC/DC has quashed rumours of its retirement due to the illness of founding member Malcolm Young.

The band posted a statement on its Facebook page addressing Young's ill health and what it means for the future of the band.

"After 40 years of life dedicated to AC/DC, guitarist and founding member Malcolm Young is taking a break from the band due to ill health," the statement said.

"Malcolm would like to thank the group's diehard legions of fans worldwide for their never-ending love and support.

"In light of this news, AC/DC asks that Malcolm and his family's privacy be respected during this time. The band will continue to make music."

Lead singer Brian Johnson also told London's The Telegraph that the band still plans to keep its appointment at a Vancouver recording studio next month, despite Young's "debilitating illness".

"We're going to pick up some guitars, have a plonk and see if anybody has got any tunes or ideas," he told The Telegraph.
