Police called to knife altercation

THE ACTION was all but over when the Hervey Bay police were called out to an altercation involving a knife at Hervey Bay's Centro shopping centre about 9am yesterday.

But witnesses were still gathered out the front of the complex while curious bystanders discussed what they had heard about the incident.

Police said the altercation broke out in front of Terry White Chemist.

Two men were involved in the incident and one of them pulled a knife.

No one was injured but the two men fled before police arrived.

One witness reported being “a bit alarmed” as the incident unfolded.

“It is alarming when you're just sitting here minding your own business,” she said.

The woman said she saw one of the men leave in a vehicle driving erratically and, in his rush to leave the scene, almost hitting a woman on a pedestrian crossing.
