Age positively with the caring team at Torbay
THE dream of providing accommodation services for Hervey Bay's ageing population blossomed into reality in 1974, with a group of local community-minded volunteers being the driving force behind the establishment of the Torbay Lifestyle & Care Group.
Since those founding days, Torbay has remained committed to caring for the elderly of the Hervey Bay community.
Today, Torbay provides services to over 400 residents across two Aged Care Facilities and two Retirement Villages in Hervey Bay and employees over 320 staff.
In an area now replete with Retirement Living and Aged Care Providers, Torbay stands proud as an independent, community owned and operated, not-for-profit charitable Aged Care Provider.
It was established by the Hervey Bay Community to provide residential accommodation for elderly residents in safe, secure and caring environments.
As a leader in the development and provision of Aged Residential Services Torbay recently opened its extended Daisy Nook Memory Support and Dementia Unit, a Centre of Excellence for Dementia Support and Care. The popularity and clear need for this specialist accommodation has, and will continue, to greatly assist people requiring this type of focused support.
With memory stimulating gardens and structures, private and communal seating areas, murals and walkways; the gardens and outdoor areas have been designed so that they will not only be interactive, but will provide areas where people can enjoy the outdoors either with others or privately.
The Parklands Aged Care Facility on Emerald Parkway in Urangan was completed in 2010 and is owned and operated by Torbay Lifestyles & Care Ltd.
Parklands consists of 72 rooms on two levels, and boasts large and modern rooms together with tranquil outdoor areas, providing the same range of quality residential services that have made Torbay Lifestyles and Care Ltd an Aged Care Provider of choice.
Torbay's Resident Nurse Practitioner Sue McDonald, offers excellent aged care and palliative care services for all residents, in both the Aged Care Facilities and the Retirement Villages. Sue works closely with many local GP's to provide ongoing assessment, care planning and management, as well as education, counselling and support. Another great service offered by Torbay Lifestyles & Care Ltd.
The co-located Lifestyle Retirement Villages at both Torbay and Parklands provide quality, architecturally designed individual homes for active retirees.
With fabulous facilities including Recreation Centres, Swimming Pools and Spas, shaded walking paths and vibrant Lifestyle Programs facilitated by friendly and dedicated staff.
There are a myriad of activities for residents to participate in, or social functions to attend, providing lots of choices for our Lifestyle Village residents.
Not only is Torbay Lifestyles & Care Ltd a major employer in the Residential Aged Care and Retirement Villages environments in Hervey Bay, but it also owns and operates the local, well-established Catering and Construction Companies known as The Village Caterer and Torbay Constructions Ltd.
