Alcohol and drug abuse forum to help answer questions

SARAH REED wants to put the Fraser Coast's alcohol and drug abuse puzzle together.

The Red Cross peer support worker said it was a "considerable" issue which she hopes to help solve at the Alcohol and Other Drugs Forum next month.

She said the forum, organised by herself, is aimed at "unpacking local trends on the Fraser Coast with alcohol and other drugs".

Queensland Police, Wide Bay Alcohol and Other Drug services, Head Space, Bridges AOD Service and Wide Bay Sexual Assault will be present, as will someone with a lived experience of the trauma caused by methamphetamine use.

While the information forum will answer questions, Sarah said it was the follow up actions which were important.

Afterwards, both clinical and community workers will collaborate at future meetings to form an Alcohol and Other Drugs focus group aimed to fill Fraser Coast service gaps.

The Alcohol and Other Drugs Forum is on between 12.30pm and 4.30pm, November 5 at the Hervey Bay Community Centre, 22 Charles St, Pialba.
