Alleged alcohol thief faces court

A 23-YEAR-OLD man who allegedly stole alcohol from four Maryborough licensed venues over the past month yesterday fronted the Maryborough Magistrates Court.

Matthew Betros was remanded in custody on 16 charges.

The court heard between October 13 and November 3 he allegedly broke into the Carriers Arms Hotel, the Maryborough Golf Club, Bella Restaurant and the Maryborough Cricket Club and in each case stole alcohol.

He also allegedly attempted to break into a number of other Maryborough dwellings, attempted to steal two cars and trespassed on private property.

He is also facing three further charges of breaching bail conditions.

Betros will reappear on November 24.
