A MAN who allegedly jumped from a courtroom dock and escaped from custody on foot was caught and charged.

The 23-year-old man will reappear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Friday.

Police will allege just after 4pm on Thursday the man ran from the courthouse and officers and the dog squad immediately began a search for the man.

He was found just after 4.30pm on Sixth Ave, Maroochydore, and arrested.

He was charged with one count of escape by person in lawful custody and two counts of assault or obstruct police.
