"45 seconds of fury" ends in court

A 51-YEAR-OLD Glenwood man who says he unleashed “45 seconds of fury” on his housemate has been committed to the next sittings of the Maryborough District Court.

Geoffrey Gibbs is charged with assault occasioning bodily harm on Robert Grove on July 3 this year.

In a recorded interview played to the Maryborough Magistrates Court last week Gibbs told officers he “snapped” after Mr Grove allegedly threatened him with a rusty cane knife.

“I could’ve walked away,” Gibbs said.

“I was sick of being abused ... I snapped.”

When asked what happened after he “snapped”, Gibbs said he let loose with “45-seconds fists of fury.”

“I opened him up ... he didn’t have a chance to defend himself.”

Gibbs had been staying with Mr Grove for about six weeks at his Glenwood property.

He will appear in the next sittings of the Maryborough District Court.
