One-punch victim has fractured skull, broken teeth

A MAN has been arrested and charged after allegedly assaulting a passer-by in a one-punch incident on Friday night, leaving him with a fractured skull.

The 41-year-old male was urinating in public when he was approached by another man who asked him to stop before the offender allegedly punched him once in the face.

A police spokesman said the incident took place about 7.30pm on Friday on the bike path at Denmans Camp Rd in Torquay.

"The victim was taken to Hervey Bay Hospital where he was treated for a fractured skull and severe trauma to the mouth which resulted in several missing teeth," the spokesman said.

"Further injuries are unknown at this time."

The offender has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm and has been released on bail.

He is set to reappear in court on May 15.

The offender was believed to be intoxicated at the time of the assault.

This comes after another early evening attack last week in which a Urangan was women punched through her car window while stopped at traffic lights at around 7pm on April 20.
