Miriam Schmierer celebrates 106th birthday in Hervey Bay

Mick Jagger's going to be disappointed, but unlike the ageing, hard-living rocker, Mrs Miriam Schmierer's satisfaction is about dedication to the Bible and her daily dose of parsley tea.

Until she came to the Chronicle's attention for her long life, Mrs Schmierer was happy to stay out of the limelight.

Tomorrow she will be the centre of attention for her 106th birthday.

She has lived a quiet life farming cattle and raising a family and describes her happiest times as those when life was much more simple and not so fast-paced.
