Maryborough aquatic centre will reopen this Saturday

DESPITE receiving rain during the past week, the Maryborough Aquatic Centre is still on track to reopen this Saturday for the first time since being heavily damaged by floodwaters.

Fraser Coast Mayor Gerard O'Connell said everything was on track to open the 50m and 25m pools.

Crews began pumping water back into the pools last week to allow the water to balance out and be suitable for swimming.

Floodwaters swept through the centre in January, only two months after it was reopened following a $6million renovation.

The flood repairs are estimated to have cost $950,000.

The hydrotherapy pool and kids play area are expected to remain closed for further repairs.
