Triathletes injured in road crash

A FEW members of the Hervey Bay Triathlon Club are a little worse for wear after being involved in an accident while training on Saturday.

The members were riding from Hervey Bay to Toogoom when the accident occurred.

Two of the cyclists went to hospital but both escaped with only minor injuries, including a sore hip and sore ribs.

“Everyone’s reasonably OK,” a member of the triathlon club Ron Morgan said, acknowledging that it could have been a lot worse.

One of the bikes clipped another’s back wheel, causing several bikes that were riding in a group to go down.

One bike veered on to the road, which was a cause for concern, Morgan said.

“It’s not a good thing when you’re riding on a busy road.”

Morgan said the club hadn’t had an accident of that nature for about three years.
