Man charged with attempted murder
A 45-YEAR-OLD Burrum Heads man has been charged with attempted murder following an alleged stabbing in the coastal town in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Richard Raymond Boys was remanded in custody to February 18 when he appeared in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court yesterday, charged with entering a dwelling with intent and attempted murder.
Boys was arrested at his Burrum Heads home about 7.15am following the alleged attack at a Burrum Heads caravan park.
It is alleged Boys entered a caravan about 1am yesterday and assaulted a man with a knife.
The victim was taken to Hervey Bay Hospital with wounds to his head, chest and leg. He received stitches but the injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
Howard police and Hervey Bay CIB seized evidence at the home of the alleged offender, which was not at the park, and at the crime scene.
It is believed the two parties are known to each other and the alleged dispute was over a small sum of money.
