Attention lapse causes crash

A MOMENT of inattention cost Stephen Craig Steel a $400 fine when he fronted the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court.

The court heard the Pialba man was travelling along Boat Harbour Drive on January 9 when he took his eyes off the road for “five to 10 seconds” to see whether Bunnings Warehouse was open.

As a result he hit the back of a car stopped at a red light, which then hit the car in front.

Steel pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention.
