Aussie cinema goers get first crack at The Hobbit tickets

AUSTRALIAN cinema goers will be some of the first in the world to buy tickets for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

Tickets for the first of Peter Jackson's three highly anticipated Hobbit films go on sale tonight at one minute past midnight AEDT, or 11.01pm Queensland time.

All three films in The Hobbit trilogy tell a continuous story set in Middle-Earth 60 years before The Lord of the
Rings, which Jackson and his filmmaking team brought to the big screen in another blockbuster trilogy based on the books by J.R.R. Tolkien.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will be released in Australia on Boxing Day, with the second film, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, to be released on Boxing Day 2013, and the third film, The Hobbit: There and Back Again slated for July 17, 2014.

The Hobbit tickets can be purchased through the Event Cinemas website, on mobile or at Birch Carroll & Coyle box offices nationally.
