Australia's favourite chippie Scott Cam wins Gold Logie

SCOTT Cam has thanked his Block family for contributing to his Gold Logie win.

The host of Channel 9's popular renovation reality show was the bookies' favourite to take out Australian TV's top honour.

"Well this is really unbelievable," Cam said.

"I kissed Kylie Minogue, that's pretty cool.

"It's 11pm at the Logies and I'm sober, that's unbelievable."

In his lengthy acceptance speech, the Aussie larrikin promised his Gold Logie would not become a door stopper.

"I'm going to flush mount a stubby opener on the bottom of it," he said.

"It will come out at every barbecue... let me go get my gold stubby opener."

Kylie Minogue, who won a Gold Logie at the tender age of 19, presented Cam with the top award.

In contrast, Cam takes his gold statuette home at the age of 51.

Asher Keddie was the other big winner of the night.

The 2013 Gold Logie winner took home two Silver Logies in the Most Oustanding and Most Popular Actress categories.

"It is unbelievable. Who would have thought this rag tag, messed up, chaotic family would have five series in them and perhaps more to go, who knows? It just makes us all so, so happy," Keddie said after her first win of the night.

Keddie dedicated her Silver Logie for Most Outstanding Actress to late actress Wendy Hughes.

Her Offspring co-star Lachy Hulmes won his first Logie, for Most Outstanding Actor, for his role in Nine's Power Games: The Packer-Murdoch Story.

"There are the people I don't want to thank. I don't want to thank the cast and crew because they know how I feel and how much I love them," he said.

"I want to thank some people who had nothing to do with this production but have been tremendously helpful and supportive and influential in getting me standing where I am now.

"To my family at Offspring, the most incredible cast I've ever worked with.

"To my brother Campbell and my sister Kate and their families, I thank them, and most importantly for my mum, I thank you very much. Go Bombers."

The ABC's Redfern now was named Most Outstanding Drama Series for the second year in a row.

SBS star Paul Fenech certainly made a colourful entrance on the red carpet with his bevy of bikini and flannel-clad girls.

But the Housos star and creator went even further when accepting the award for Most Outstanding Light Entertainment Program.

Fenech sprayed his beer over the table before throwing a thong at a camera and another one into the A-list crowd.

"I haven't prepared anything. I got pissed," Fenech said.

"For the real Aussies of Australia who supported us for all these years, this win is for you."

On a more serious note, journalist and former 60 Minutes presenter Peter Harvey was inducted into the Logies Hall of Fame inductee posthumously and received a standing ovation.
