Award-winning journalist Toni McRae dies aged 67

AWARD-winning journalist Toni McRae, has died aged 67.

Toni worked as an advisor for Member for Maryborough Anne Maddern.

On Thursday afternoon Ms Maddern released a brief statement about Toni's passing.

"She came into our office like a whirlwind, full of life, enthusiasm and wit and now she is gone leaving a dull and empty space  - we will miss her dreadfully," Ms Maddern wrote.

Toni died overnight on Wednesday.

She was an admired, award-winning journalist, breaking national and international stories.

But she lived her retirement on the Fraser Coast, at full steam.

Toni also staffed the electorate office for Hervey Bay MP Ted Sorensen.

In tomorrow's Chronicle the region's leaders and residents pay tribute to Toni.
