Awards for development excellence

CREATORS of new Fraser Coast high rises, housing estates, retail projects and retirement resorts are being encouraged to enter one of Qld’s most prestigious awards to be announced in June.

“These excellence awards are in their 16th year and recognise the very best of developments across the state,” Daniel Poacher, president of the local branch of the Urban Development Institute, said yesterday.

“The Fraser Coast has produced some truly landmark designs in affordable housing, residential subdivisions, multi-level developments and retail and commercial projects.

“We’ve also recently added a category for seniors living.”

The UDIA Qld Boral Awards for Excellence 2010 will recognise quality and innovation in the development industry across 15 categories.

Mr Poacher said that each year the awards had grown in stature and prestige.

“So far, 2010 is shaping up to be highly competitive, as signs of economic recovery start to filter through,” he said.

Winners will be announced at the development industry’s night of nights, a spectacular dinner and glittering presentation ceremony on Friday, June 25, at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.

More than 1000 guests including key government figures, industry icons and media will be wined, dined and entertained throughout the evening.

“We encourage Fraser Coasters to get their entries in to win.”

Entries close March 5.
