Aztecs enter break on top in A-grade women's softball

AZTECS Apaches enter Maryborough Softball's Christmas break atop the A-grade table after a three-run win against Incas Mercury on Saturday.

Reen Paea hit a home-run during Aztecs' win, which put the Apaches (18) seven points clear of Sparx Hyne (11) on the ladder.

Incas Mercury are third on eight points.

Aztecs teams are first in three grades, with Incas on top in the other four.

Saturday's men's game was cancelled due to poor player availability, leaving Incas Warriors (21) ahead of Aztecs/Sparx (16) by five points. Aztecs Amazons, who beat stablemates Cherokee 11-6, are eight points clear of Sparx Sirens in women's B-grade.

Maryborough Softball's juniors were treated to an early visit from Santa, who surprised young players one week before his rapid round-the-world adventure.
