Bakers Creek accused roommate attacker out on bail

A MAN accused of unlawfully wounding a man he was living with has been granted bail on the condition he doesn't return to the Bakers Creek residence.

Donald Joseph Duroux, 53, was brought from custody to the dock at Mackay Magistrates Court yesterday.

He had face and arm tattoos, a thick moustache and wore a black printed T-shirt.

Defence solicitor Zoe Craven requested Duroux be allowed bail.

Prosecutor Michael Ball said he did not object to bail, but requested it be on condition that Duroux reside at a residence at Stockbridge St in West Mackay.

He also requested Duroux not make contact with the alleged victim, Stewart Alan Murray, or witnesses to the alleged incident Eric Healy and Steve Marsh.

Mr Ball requested that bail be on the condition Duroux report to police once a week.

Ms Craven told the court that Duroux had been residing in the same house as the two witnesses.

She said he would have to return to the house to retrieve his phone, glasses and other personal items, and asked if he may be permitted to do so in the company of a police officer.

Magistrate Nerida Wilson allowed the request for bail, on the conditions suggested by Mr Ball.

She permitted Duroux to return to the residence with police accompaniment to retrieve personal belongings.

She said he must report to Mackay police each Friday during the period of bail.

Magistrate Wilson told Mr Ball a full brief was to be delivered to the defence on or before December 15.

She told Duroux he was remanded to appear in court on January 12, 2016.
