Bauple gets its first doctor

THE TINY town of Bauple has received a shot in the arm with the arrival of its first doctor.

Dr Suzy Baudouef has opened a new surgery opposite the Bauple Museum, offering bulk-billing and a range of services.

Two nurses are also on the staff, and while the surgery is not yet fully operational, it will soon offer ante- and post-natal care, health checks, vaccinations, and clinics for diabetes and asthma patients.

The office is called Bopple Surgery after the original spelling of Bauple, and has been warmly welcomed by residents.

"We've never had a doctor before," Macadamia House manager Yolande Bromet said.

"We're over the moon."

Dr Bandouef also works for the Monsour Clinic's office at Tiaro Medical Centre, which has been closed for several months while a long-awaited renovation is completed.

Tenders for the Tiaro Medical Centre renovations closed last month, but a predicted date of completion has not been announced for the project.
