Bay juniors to star during the First Test at the Gabba

WHILE the nation's eyes will be firmly on the Gabba from 10am on Thursday the true main event for 32 of Hervey Bay's youngest cricketers starts at lunch.

Hervey Bay Cricket Association was invited by Cricket Australia to be part of the mid-game entertainment during the First Test between Australia and New Zealand.

The 32 MILO in2CRICKET players will play on the hallowed turf at lunch, moments after the likes of Kiwi sensation Brendan McCullum and Australia's explosive opener Dave Warner battle in what is expected to an intense opening session.

Hervey Bay's T20 Blast cricketers could perform in front of an enormous crowd on Saturday, with 32 youngsters to play the shortest format of the junior game during lunch.

Both formats are new arrivals in Hervey Bay, and are aimed at enticing more juniors to the game.

The formats have been successful across the country, and (locally) both are played at Urangan on Fridays.
