Bay Lions Club donates gift cards for Christmas hampers
THE Christmas hampers to be given out to needy families this Christmas by the Salvation Army are now a little bit fuller.
About 40 Woolworths gift cards worth $25 each were donated yesterday by the Hervey Bay Lions Club.
The Salvation Army's Lieutenant Adele Williams said the cards would allow families to get something special at Woolworths."It is truly great to have the Hervey Bay Lions Club support the Salvation Army in this way, so we can help families needing a little help," she said.
The club's vice president Karen Lancaster said the club had also made sure to spread the Christmas cheer to the St Vincent De Paul charity also.
"Donating things at Christmas is an annual event and just earlier this month we donated about six cartons of Lions Christmas cakes St Vinnies," she said.
The club has also visited both Torbanlea and Howard State Schools recently to award a few $200 bursaries for students.
