Bay netballers named in Queensland training squad

THREE young Hervey Bay netball players have been identified as some of the best in the state for their age group.

Jaymee Ericson, 15, Tamara Anderson, 14, and Isabelle Baumanis, 15, were selected into Netball Queensland under-17s Emerging Player Squad.

From this group, a team will be picked to compete in the 2018 National Netball Championships.

"It's an honour to be identified to be a part of it,” Isabelle said.

"I'm a little nervous but going to try my hardest to make it to the nationals.”

The girls will travel to Brisbane next month to participate in a five-day camp from which the numbers will be dwindled down.

Despite the local netball season being at an end, the girls will continue with their practice.

Jaymee has her morning alarm clock set at 4.45am so she can squeeze in a few hours of training required to maintain and improve her skillset.

"I train twice a day, which includes before school,” Jaymee said.

"That includes sessions at the gym multiple times a week as well.

"I've played netball ever since I was young and I just love it.”

Tamara, the youngest of the trio who plays at centre, was just excited for more an opportunity to play more netball.

"I love the teamwork involved in it,” Tamara said.

The 2018 National Netball Championships will be in Adelaide.
