Bay siblings pool together

CAMERON Preval and his younger brother Joshua will take the plunge in the Queensland Age Swimming Championships in Brisbane next month.

And there is a great chance there will be two other Prevals following in their wake.

The pair's younger siblings, Alex and Jessica, now hit the water as members of the Fraser Coast Swimming Club and they are keen to follow their brothers into the heat of battle.

Seven-year-old Jessica has now contested her first carnival after spending years on the sidelines watching her brothers, while Alex, 9, has been improving his times every time he attends a carnival.

Their brothers are leading by example with Cameron, 14, qualifying for seven events at the state titles while Joshua, 11, will race in one.

With all four of her kids in the swim, mum Michelle is kept busy getting them to training and carnivals – she said it's worth it.

“The best reward is seeing the joy on their faces when they finish a race,” she said.

“As for rivalry, well, the kids record their times and compare them with their siblings at the same age.”
