THE new bayonet for the Light Horse statue in Pialba has been fastened into place after it was snapped off in a vandal attack three weeks ago.

Hervey Bay RSL sub-branch members, including sub-branch president John Kelsey, were on hand on Friday morning to celebrate the bayonet's arrival just in time for the centenary Anzac centenary service on Saturday, April 25.

Mr Kelsey said he was relieved to have the statue fixed.
