Big Brother evictee Matt can't wait to meet little Ruby
MATTHEW Filippi can't wait to meet his tiny niece Ruby today.
The former soldier and Sunshine Coast local was reunited with his twin brother Luke and girlfriend Emma last night after his eviction from the Big Brother house but he can't wait to drive home to Maroochydore this afternoon to meet the newest addition to the family.
Filippi learned of Ruby's birth inside the Big Brother house and has so far only seen photos of the little bundle of joy.
"I can't wait. She's so beautiful from the pictures my brother showed me last night," he said.
"I can't wait to give her a hug and a kiss."
The 27-year-old, who served in Afghanistan and Iraq, spent exactly 50 days inside the Big Brother house.
"My biggest highlight was winning the first Showdown," he said.
"And doing the single for (boy band) Mandate, that whole week was just crazy."
He's expecting to cop a bit of flak from his mates for his antics on the show, which included locking lips with Caleb and "marrying" Ed, his two closest mates on the show.
"I wouldn't expect anything less from them. That's what the boys are for," he said.
He is worried about how Ed will go in the house now that their boys' club is well and truly disbanded.
"I think he will struggle," Filippi said.
"Yesterday I imagined if he went how I'd feel and I imagine he'd feel the same. With Drew and Tim and Tully together, he's kind of on his own now."
Filippi hopes the nomination superpower will give Ed some sort of advantage tonight, but he reckons fellow Queenslander Ben will win the show.
"I would put my money on Ben; Australia will love him more (than Tim)," he said.
He reckons Ben's fake eviction, during which he will spend 24 hours spying on the housemates before returning, will only strengthen his position in the game.
"He's a smart fella. I think he'll use it wisely and take it all in," he said.
"In the house everyone tries to pick what's going to happen next. No one will see this coming.
"When he comes back they will see him as more of a threat."
Big Brother nominations air tonight at 7pm on Channel 9/WIN.
