Cinema party for our Mad Hatters
THE COSTUMES were abundant and the tea was plentiful as Hervey Bay BigScreen Cinema set the stage for the premiere of a stunning retelling of a classic tale.
There were several Alices, plenty of White Queens and several wicked Queens of Hearts roaming around the cinema – and the odd White Rabbit was also to be found as the cinema hosted a terrific tea party before the premiere of Alice in Wonderland on Thursday night.
One very convincing Mad Hatter, brought to life by Hervey Bay BigScreen Cinemas’ Jamie Eisel, also entertained the crowds before the start of the show, although he admitted that his costume was not the easiest thing to wear in the heat.
The audience, which included all ages, was obviously impressed by the 3D effects – especially when Alice took her tumble down the rabbit hole.
The Queen of Hearts, played by Helena Bonham-Carter, was probably the favourite, eliciting plenty of laughs, while the Mad Hatter, played by Johnny Depp, was suitably mad and definitely played for laughs.
