Bizarre to make the comparison
To compare the stupidity of the Traveston dam with cleaning up the foreshore is quite bizarre.
Nobody underestimates the importance of the vegetation in holding the foreshore together and to protect us from potential flooding.
However, to state that it would become an “artificial human-created environment” is rather over the top, especially when the mounds in front of Delfinos are the sand removed when the car park was constructed 24 years ago.
Visitors do come to use the picnic areas and so do the locals and would dearly like to sit under the trees, looking across the bay.
Providing more areas would not be detrimental, only enhancing.
The police would also like to be able to see through to the beach when they patrol the Esplanade, helping to cut down on the rising crime.
Hervey Bay only survives because of tourism and self-funded retirees.
Every other industry relies heavily on these people.
It is a valid point to remember. – ANDREW CREWE, Torquay.
