Boaties stumble on alien-like distorted carcass

FISHERMEN off the coast of Western Australia have spotted an enormous alien-looking floating ball being eating by sharks.

The two men, Mark Watkins and his father, spotted the grotesque sight 25 nautical miles off the coast, the Daily Mail reports

The Western Australian reported the two men originally thought they'd spotted a boat of a stranded hot air balloon.

When they ventured closer, they discovered it was a dead whale that had expanded due to the gases inside.

"Its stomach was so full of gas so it was all bloated up," Mr Watkins said.

"When we got closer we realised it had to be a dead whale because of the smell."

Images show the dead whale at bursting point with the skin stretched to the point of being pink.

The whale began to deflate once the shark bites let the gases escape.

Mr Watkins also said he'd seen a 4m-long white pointer around his boat on the same day.
