Body washes up on Yeppoon beach
A BODY has washed up on Yeppoon's Main Beach this morning after a car plunged 50m from the Wreck Point lookout.
The vehicle cannot currently be seen because of the depth of water, and a police guard is in place at the base of the lookout.
The permanent barrier at the top of the lookout, at Cooee Bay, is broken and debris from the vehicle is strewn everywhere.
It is not known when the accident happened, or whether the two incidents are linked.
Police are also at Yeppoon's Main Beach, where witnesses saw the body in the water this morning, near the Keppel Bay Sailing Club.
One witness told The Morning Bulletin he spotted what he thought was a large log floating on the surface and went to investigate.
He said when he realised it was a person, he checked for signs of life.
He said there were none and he asked another beach-goer to call police.
