Bombers fuel the Fraser Coast's rep AFL side

FRASER Coast's representative team will have a distinct red-and-black taste when they play today.

More than half the squad comes from the reigon's top-ranked QFA Wide Bay Sunshine Coast team Hervey Bay Bombers, which is coached by former Bombers mentor Darren Hunter.

The Fraser Coast team will face a combined Bundaberg-Sunshine Coast in the main game at 3.15pm.

Three players will earn the chance to be part of South Queensland's train-on squad ahead of its clash with North Queensland in Mackay on July 22.

Bay Power player Damon Oakley played in that game last year, though Bomber Scott Clark was left out of the final squad.

Hunter said Clark would be one to watch at today's Port City Park clash.

"He's been good this year, Matty Schlein has had a pretty good year, and our captain Lachie Woodhams is a great, crash and bash footballer who could be up there,” Hunter said.

Hunter hasn't wasted too much time instilling new tactics in the squad, instead allowing the players to utilise their natural talent.

An under-16 girls game will be played at 11am, with the open women's from 2pm.
