Boondooma Dam good for weekend

BOONDOOMA Dam Yellowbelly Fishing Competition spokesman John Burow says that with dam levels currently 100% the annual competition to be held on February 12 and 13, 2011 should provide great fishing.

No speed restriction in relation to boating activity on the lake is being considered for the weekend of the competition due to the favourable dam water level.

Entry costs for 2011 will be $20 for adults and $5 for juniors aged less than 16 years.

Competition entry fees do not include the cost of camping at the lake.

The fishing and family fun weekend is a major fundraiser that supports the ongoing stocking of Lake Boondooma.

The 2010 competition attracted a large crowd for the event with 545 competitors including 79 juniors enjoying a great weekend of camping, fishing and family activities.

Accommodation available at the lake includes 5 self-contained cabins, a communal bunkhouse, powered sites, non-powered lakeside camping areas and modern amenities blocks.

For information on camping fees go to the South Burnett Regional Council website www.southburnett.qld.gov.au

All anglers must have a current Stock Impoundment Permit. Permits can be purchased from the kiosk at Lake Boondooma or online atwww.dpi.qld.gov.au
