UPDATE: Both lanes of Bruce Hwy re-opened near Tiaro

UPDATE 3.30PM: POLICE have confirmed both lanes of the Bruce Hwy near Pineapple Hill, 10km north or Tiaro, have re-opened.

A Queensland police media spokeswoman told the Chronicle the D-double truck which was blocking the lanes had been moved to one side.

EARLIER: BOTH lanes of the Bruce Hwy at Pineapple Hill, south of Maryborough have been blocked after two separate traffic incidents occurred just after midday.

A police spokesman told the Chronicle it was believed a B-double truck's brake line broke, causing it to stop suddenly on the highway at about 12.10pm.

The crash involved three other cars.

The truck is currently blocking both lanes of traffic and will require a heavy vehicle tow to attend the scene.

Cars may be able to travel around the truck under police direction, however truck and large vehicles will not be able to do so.

Police have also been called to a second single vehicle crash about 3km away from the truck, however no information is yet available about the incident.

It is unknown at this stage how long the highway will be blocked.

No injuries have been reported at this stage.

Police expect to receive an update on both situations in the next half hour.
