Boy, 13, and aunt stable in hospital after pushbike crash

UPDATE 3PM: A 13-year-old boy is in a stable condition at Maryborough Hospital following a cycling crash on Mungar Rd just before 8am on Friday.

His aunt, 54, is also in a stable condition in Hervey Bay Hospital.

Police were called to the scene after the pair came off their bikes when a four-wheel drive passed them on the road.

Police are investigating the incident.

EARLIER: TWO cyclists have been taken to hospital after coming off their bikes on Mungar Rd, Maryborough just before 8am on Friday.

Maryborough police Sergeant Steve Wheeler said the 15-year-old boy and his aunt came off their bikes after a car passed.

He said at this stage police believed they were pushed off their bikes due to turbulence from the car and were not hit.

He said they were being treated for scratches and a possible dislocated shoulder.

Police are investigating the crash.
