Boy, 2, drowns in dip
A TWO-year-old boy drowned after falling into a cattle dip on a property near Eidsvold yesterday.
It is believed the toddler went missing from the homestead on Eidsvold-Rawbelle Road about 1.30pm.
He was discovered a short time later by his parents in the dip at the property’s cattle yards, and they began CPR in a frantic effort to save their son.
“His parents started CPR, and then firefighters from Eidsvold attended and took over,” AGL Action Rescue helicopter pilot Dick Snell said.
As the Eidsvold ambulance was unavailable, paramedics from Mundubbera were sent to the scene as well as the rescue helicopter from Bundaberg — but it was too late to save the little boy.
“He was pronounced dead shortly after our paramedics arrived,” Mr Snell said.
It is believed the boy was the couple’s only child.
