Bradford to tour Spain after earning Australian selection

HERVEY Bay's Perth Bradford will represent Australia next year as part of a 16-day futsal tour of Spain.

The 11-year-old's selection follows her remarkable performance for Queensland Country under-12 girls' team at the 2012 National Futsal School Championships in Cairns.

The Riverside Christian College student was a standout performer with her strong leadership skills and desire to motivate others impressing Australian selectors.

Bradford's call-up came as a shock to her mother Lynette, who also had her son Jack, 13, competing in Cairns.

"I'm just so proud," she said.

"I'm very happy her abilities have been recognised, but it was a real surprise.

"She's still so young and to be selected in an Australian team so soon was unexpected."
