UPDATE: Multiple reports of man with gun in Hervey Bay

UPDATE: Police were unable to locate a man who was reportedly carrying a gun near a Hervey Bay shopping centre on Monday afternoon.

Hervey Bay police Senior Constable Jules Tyson said police had received multiple reports from a single witness with a description of the man, but he had not been seen in the area.

The first sighting was reported to police about 4.04pm.

EARLIER: Police are searching for a man who was reportedly spotted carrying a gun in Hervey Bay.

The reports of the man were made around the shopping district in Central Ave, Pialba about 4.04pm.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said police had received an unconfirmed report from a member of the public regarding a sighting of a man with a gun.

He said police were searching the area.
