Brides and brothers to appear among the books at libraries

SEVEN Brides for Seven Brothers will be the next golden oldie movie screened at the Hervey Bay and Maryborough libraries later this month.

Councillor for community George Seymour said the screenings had become popular.

"People are really interested in seeing different types of older movies - it's a great experience and is another example of how our libraries are real community spaces," he said.

The critically acclaimed 1954 musical was listed as number eight in the Top 10 MGM musicals in the book Top 10 of Film by Russell Ash.

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers features Jane Powell, Howard Keel and Jeff Richards and will be screened at 10am at the Hervey Bay Library on Friday, September 27, and the Maryborough Library on Monday, September 30.

The event is free, but bookings are required and can be made by phoning Maryborough on 4190 5788 or Hervey Bay on 4197 4220.
