Bring the Panthers on says Trent Seeds
LEAGUE: There will be no love lost today between Trent Seeds and his former club, Western Suburbs.
Seeds and his new club, The Waves, will take on the Panthers in an elimination final to start the Bundaberg Rugby League A-Grade finals.
The winner remains in the competition while the loser is finished for the year.
It will be an interesting match for Seeds, who joined The Waves in the off-season.
"I'm keen to play football, that's it,” he said.
"I'd love to make the grand final this year.”
Seeds said he understood he might cop extra attention from the opposition.
But he says he is not worried about The Waves' focus being on him for one second.
"I hope it is,” he said.
"There's no friends on the football field.
"When you are on the field, the focus is on football.”
The centre has a point to prove after last season when Wests were eliminated - by the side Seeds plays for now.
"It was a pretty awful feeling,” he said.
"It's a new season and a new start this week.”
Seeds is hoping to do his job after impressing his coaches during the season.
"It's been a tough season, I just do what I need to do,” he said.
"Playing centre is my favourite and I get more space to run, (and) feel more free.”
Seeds said he was enjoying his time at the new club.
"They've taught me a lot, especially being coached by Antonio Kaufusi,” he said.
"I'll be playing there next year.”
For now the focus is on today.
"It is going to be a hard game,” he said.
"We need to focus on our defence and get off our line hard.”
The Waves and Wests play at 5pm today with the winner to face Past Brothers or the Wallaroos.
