You loved the film, now you're about to love the musical. Don't miss The Bodyguard The Musical in Brisbane this July.

A CITY drenched in culture, Brisbane is again flaunting an arts and culture events calendar fit for a queen.

This season features multiple ballets, musicals and even something the kids will be begging to check out.

Here are four of the top cultural events coming up:

Explore Marvel: Creating the Cinematic Universe

May 27-September 3

Following Marvel heroes from comic book page to the cinema screen, this much-anticipated ticketed exhibition is coming to the Gallery of Modern Art late May featuring original artwork, film props, costumes and more.

It will give significant focus to the Marvel comic artists, and the development teams who translate the drawn narrative to the screen through production design and storyboarding, costume and prop design, special effects and post-production.

Let's just say, if you're into Marvel, the day you see this exhibition may just be the best day of your life.

International Ballet series

June and July

Coming to QPAC, two of the world's greatest ballet companies will bring their outstanding performances to the people of Brisbane. Since the inception of the International Ballet series, QPAC has hosted companies from France (Paris Opera Ballet), Cuba (Ballet National de Cuba), Russia (Bolshoi Ballet) and more. This year we welcome these two great companies:

June 29 - July 2: Inspired by the writings of Virginia Woolf, Wayne McGregor's ballet Woolf Works uses a stunning storytelling style to tell a tale of modern realism and the heart of an artistic life. The performance is McGregor's first full-length work for The Royal Ballet.

July 5-9: An adaptation of Shakespeare's late great romance, The Winter's Tale is a full-length ballet that follows the destruction of a marriage through jealousy, the abandonment of a child and a seemingly hopeless love. This work is by The Royal Ballet's artistic associate, Christopher Wheeldon.

The Bodyguard The Musical

From July 19

Australian Idol star Paulini will take centre stage in this award-winning musical based on the hit film, The Bodyguard.

Fans of the movie are promised an exciting and high-energy show featuring Whitney Houston's greatest songs of all time.

Former secret service agent turned bodyguard Frank Farmer is hired to protect superstar Rachel Marron from an unknown stalker before it morphs into a love story. Don't miss this hit musical when it comes to Brisbane in July.

Gladiators: Heroes of the Colosseum

June 23 - Jan 23, 2018

This Australian exclusive is touring to the Queensland Museum with more than 120 artefacts, interactive games and displays that reveal who gladiators were, where they lived and how they trained.

An incredibly interesting look at the history of these tough men, the exhibition includes pieces of the Colosseum, helmets, original arms and armour preserved by the ashes of Pompeii.
