Bunnings open by Christmas

THE NEW new Bunnings store in Maryborough is set to open its doors to the public on Monday, December 21.

The “small format” store, which will be housed in the current Sam’s Warehouse, will be the 30th Bunnings Warehouse to open in Queensland.

Bunnings Maryborough manager Ben Hawkshaw said staff were looking forward to welcoming local residents to the new store which will stock a wide range of hardware, tools and home improvement products at low prices.

“Our team members have worked extremely hard to prepare the store for opening and are looking forward to helping customers with their DIY projects,” Mr Hawkshaw said.

The $15.5 million store development will open in two stages, with the second stage of development due for completion in mid 2010.

The second stage will see the store expand into a full warehouse taking on all the Bunnings offerings, including an indoor timber range, pavers and an outdoor leisure range.

Bunnings Maryborough is also looking forward to helping Fraser Coast charity organisations and community groups to raise funds for a variety of causes by hosting Bunnings’ famous sausage sizzles.

When completed in 2010, the full Maryborough Bunnings Warehouse will occupy more than 5000 square metres of the 1.3 hectare site on Ferry Street next to Station Square.
