MARYBOROUGH Speedway will welcome back more than 50 burnouts competitors on January 13.

Burnouts co-ordinator Tony Ward admitted numbers would be lower than the hugely popular Bob Jane T-Mart Burnout Masters in August due to a clash with the Summernats and the holiday period, but the growing number of local drivers would easily make it a packed program.

"We've got a couple of new local drivers who have built cars and are keen to get out there,' Ward said.

"The Summernats are on in Canberra so there would only be a week's turnaround to fix a blown engine or any other damage, it's just not enough time."

With the next Burnout Masters on March 3, Ward said the January 13 event could be a good chance for drivers to test and tune machines.
