Businesses go without hot water after "unusual" thefts

POLICE are warning Fraser Coast business owners to take precautions as they investigate two "unusual" stealing offences.

Senior Constable Melanie Ryan said hot water systems had been stolen from the back of two Maryborough businesses in the space of a week.

The first theft happened at a business on Ferry St sometime between 7pm Wednesday, July 3 and 10am the next day.

The second happened sometime between 4pm on Friday, July 5 and 2pm on Sunday, July 7 at a nearby business on Lennox St.

"It's an unusual offence that we haven't seen before," Snr Const Ryan said.

She said business owners could take precautions by upping their security with lights and locks.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
