Butcher will chop gluten in response to customer demand

GARY Richards has listened to his customers and says he will heed their calls to become the most gluten-free butcher in Hervey Bay.

"All my products will be gluten-free - all my ham, bacon, silverside, pork and beef sausages, steakettes and meatloaf and pickled pork," Mr Richards, who will brand the new range Gary's Own, said.

"I just thought no one else has done this, no one else has gone to the trouble of having all these products gluten-free."

The Whale City Butchery, Torquay Butchery and Whale City Factory Bulk Meats owner said stocking a full range of gluten-free products would complement his current products.

Asked about the taste, he said the flavours were actually better, especially in the pork sausages.

"That's what we noticed - they are much nicer in flavour," he said.

Mr Richards said he would still have plenty of glutenous items available for people and customer demand had prompted the new range.
